Portland Education Foundation’s (PEF) investments in Portland’s public schools come in many forms. First, we support programs like the PEF Teacher Grants Program and Culture Club-Portland. Each of these programs requires annual support in order to continue, and together with the school district, we believe they are worthwhile programs for which we continually seek funding. PEF also seeks Gifts In Kind which are not monetary gifts, but which meet a need and are a valuable asset to PPS, like in the case of space donations from USM for professional development, and used books at no cost for classroom and school libraries from Portland Public Library. PEF looks to make strategic partnerships between needs within PPS and a donor’s targeted area for investment, like in the case of the Family Learning Guides that serve to include families in their students’ school experience that were underwritten by L.L. Bean. PEF also seeks grants in support of specific initiatives for educational enhancement that have been identified by PPS leadership. PEF is extremely grateful to our individual, business and foundation supporters.
