On Tuesday, October 21, Maine received news that the 12.5% of Mainers who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, also known as food stamps, won’t receive this vital aid in November as a result of the federal government shutdown. Sam and Elliot Leopold got married this summer and instead of registering for gifts, they asked their friends and family to make donations. They collected backpacks, school supplies, and classroom supplies and brought them to FPPS. We’re thrilled to distribute these to students and teachers. Thank you, Sam and Elliot! ✏️🖍️💕
